Time 2011 Person of the Year: The Protester

I think this was a great choice- how about you?  Could there really have been any other?

We have seen popular uprisings across the globe- from Tunisia to my own state capitol (Hartford).   This year it seemed like every one finally got the opportunity to speak out and make a change.  This choice honors the unbelievable courage and determination of the protesters, as well as memorializing those who gave their lives to the cause.

In the US cynics may scoff at the ‘hippies’ and ‘whiners’ of Occupy Wallstreet- forgetting that many citizens elsewhere are experiencing the privilege of casting a vote for the first time.  Democracy is hard wrought and not easily sustained, but 2011 has shown us that the voice of the people will not be still.

Advice for aspiring bloggers from Nicolas Lazaro of The Bengal Stripe

Whatever blogs you read now, don’t try to emulate them. Know yourself, know what you like, and build an online identity based off of that. Keep away from fads and anything that doesn’t fit with who you…

Dear Ancient Looking Man:

If you must cross yourself repeatedly while reciting a Hail Mary just to enter the pool, lap swim in my lane might not be the best place for you!!!

Kindly,

Obama off ballot in NH?

According to my 2012 Obama campaign e-letter, “Four Republicans in the New Hampshire State House allowed a hearing requested by a group of birthers who want President Obama officially removed from the state’s primary ballot.”

Mammmma Mia, not this again! I could make many comments such as “Don’t they have better things to be doing?”, “Weren’t there other constituents with more pressing matters to be looked at?”, or even “How did they get security clearance  to enter the building?”, but I wouldn’t want to sound like a broken record…
